"Horror cinema was once undervalued; now it has taken its place in important venues and has finally been understood." These are the words of Dario Argento, who received the Medal of the Presidency of the Capitoline Assembly during the presentation of the Italian Horror Fantasy Fest at Palazzo Valentini.

The award was presented by the Honorable Fabrizio Santori.

"This is the first time the Festival is being held in an institutional venue," Argento declared. "The first time is always significant. We had never been in such a marvelous place before; until now, those of us who make horror films have always been confined to cinemas, even the smallest ones, because there was no appreciation for horror. People loved so-called 'serious' cinema, certain bad films, or 'comedies.' Now, however, things are starting to change, and horror films are winning at festivals like Cannes and Venice. Horror cinema," the director concluded, "has taken its place in important venues like this hall in Palazzo Valentini, and it has finally been understood. Thanks to those who have worked to make this happen."

The Italian Horror Fantasy Fest, directed by Luigi Pastore, will take place in Rome on Saturday, November 1st, at the Casa del Cinema, featuring a full day of talks, debates, and screenings dedicated to horror and fantasy. The complete program will be released on October 19th. This year, the festival boasts the participation of exceptional figures: Oscar nominee Francesco Costabile will attend and be honored; the event will be hosted by actor and director Paolo Ruffini; and the jury will be chaired by the Manetti Bros.
